| Leads Groups
are an ideal networking opportunity for small business owners and others
who rely on referrals for bringing in new business. As you are meeting
people in the Leads Group, you should consider not only what services
you can provide to them but, what services they might have to offer you
and who you might recommend them to. The Durham Leads Group is open to
all - there are no restrictions on the number of people or types of
businesses, like some groups. There are also no membership fees - just
pay $5 whenever you attend a meeting.
The success of Leads Groups is dependent on new members. Each member
is encouraged to spread the word and invite others to attend.

ELEVATOR SPEECH
An "Elevator Speech" is a 30-45 second presentation about yourself and
your company - think of what you would say during an elevator ride. Some
people can shoot from the hip while others do better with a written list
of points to cover. If you're not comfortable in front of a group,
practice what you are going to say in front of a mirror. Be sure
to check your time so you don't get cut off.
Remember that people who choose to do business with you are doing
business with YOU, not a faceless mega-conglomerate. Your personal touch
is what's going to seal the deal.
Suggested speaking points
- State your name
- State your company
- Tell what you have to offer the people in the room
- Tell what business lead is good for you
If you have a creative side and want to do this in song or poetry,
go for it - a few people do that. Please remember to keep it within
the time limit, though. |
